About Centurion Club

After an extensive search, former Pro Golfer, Scott Evans, buys the land and begins to design the 18-hole golf course with course designer Simon Gidman together with Southern Golf supporting the construction and Troon Golf providing agronomy guidance.

Nestled between leafy St Albans and Leverstock Green the 90 acre site was purchased in 2010. Three years later, in 2013, the Golf Course opened and the Club welcomed its first members.

The Clubhouse opened complete with Pro Shop, Members Lounge and members Locker Rooms. Galvin brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin oversaw the launch of Centurion Club’s restaurant, which opened to non-members in 2016.

Centurion Club hosted the innovative GolfSixes event attracting 9,000 spectators, which was won by Danish duo Thorbjorn Olesen and Lucas Bjerregaard.

After the success of the inaugural GolfSixes event in 2017, the second event was played over a glorious weekend in May 2018. This year saw Irish pair Paul Dunne and Gavin Moynihan beat Romain Wattel and Mike Lorenzo-Vera of France.

Centurion Club hosted the first Aramco Team Series event featuring a unique format where 36 teams of four players competed over two days. The inagural event was won by Team Cowan (Olivia Cowan, Sarina Schmidt, and Diksha Dagar)

Calvin Hill took over as Head Chef at Centurion Club. His extensive experience including time spent in Sydney and Zurich early in his career saw him quickly progress to senior roles at The Ritz Club and the Institute of Directors Gentleman’s Club in London. He also held the position of Head Chef at The Grove before taking the reins at Centurion Club.

Following the success of the inaugural Aramco Team Series in 2021 Centurion Club hosted the Ladies European Tour event for a second consecutive year. Bronte Law triumphed in the individual event with the team event won by Team Nadaud, who defeated Team Hall in a play-off.

The eyes of the golfing world were all on Centurion Club in July 2022 when the Club was chosen as the host venue for the inaugural LIV Golf Invitational Series. It was a historic and memorable occasion for professional golf and the Club, with a field including some of the most recognisable names in the sport including Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson and eventual winner Charl Schwartzel.

With the eyes of the golf world on Centurion Club ahead of the LIV Golf Tournament, the Club celebrated its 10 year anniversary with a lavish party where members, associates, colleagues and friends marked the occasion with a live band, DJ’s, a variety of food stations and entertainment.

Following the success of the inaugural event, LIV Golf returned for a second year. Now more established, the event saw some of golfs most eminent players competing at Centurion Club. Noteable players included Bryson DeChambou, Brooks Kopeka and eventual winner Cam Smith.

Back for a third year, the Ladies Aramco Team series welcomed an impressive field from the womens’s game including America’s Nelly Korda who triumphedwithascoreof 11 under and won by four over England’s Charley Hull.

Centurion Club hosted the Junior GolfSixes League where eight teams of six youngsters from Hertfordshire, Essex and Berkshire played the short 6-hole competition just days before the Ladies European Tour Aramco Team series.Image Credit: Neville Hopwood

Hosted in 2024 for a fourth consecutive year at Centurion Club it was Ireland’s Leona Maguire who clinched the individual win closing the final round with a phenomenal eagle on the 18th to finish one shot ahead of the rest of the field.
