Experience elite golfing
at Centurion Club
Our stunning 18-hole golf course has been open to Members and their guests since summer 2013. Situated to the West of St Albans, Centurion Club’s name reflects the historical associations the area has with the Roman era.
The course explores existing pine woodland on holes one to five, giving the course a distinctly mature and natural feel at the start of the round. The holes then move into areas which have been carefully yet dramatically shaped to offer both an aesthetically beautiful contribution, and a genuine challenge. This is achieved through a multitude of well-planned hazards, breath-taking views and strategic hole design. The 14th sees the woodland return for the home stretch, built to stand tall against the very best finishes in world golf.
Each hole is unique, and at 7,100 yards from the back tees it will challenge the very best golfers both in terms of their playing ability as well as their approach to the game.
Course Highlights
Challenging and rewarding in equal measure. Sweeping, treelined fairways cut an imposing yet scenic view.
Strategically placed, guarding bunkers, imposing water hazards and undulating, velvety greens designed to test even the most experienced golfer.
The Opening Hole
A spectacular start, meandering its way through tall pines with plenty of bunkers.
Halfway House
Refuel and recharge with one of our legendary sausage rolls, ready for the rest of your round.
The Signature 12th
A stunning but tough hole, with the approach shot over water, par is a great score here.
The Par 3’s
All 5 par-3’s require a precise tee shot in order to find the green in regulation.
The Grand 18th
The magnificent 18th par 5, guarded by bunkers, water and out of bounds.

The first of the par-3s requires a precise tee shot in order to find the correct plateau on this undulating green.

The 3rd is probably the strongest par-4 on the course, it requires a well posititoned tee shot to the corner of the dog-leg right, and plenty of club is needed for the uphill approach shot.

Agenda
After a generous tee shot, longer hitters may be tempted to challenge the bunkers some 70 yards short of the green to set up an eagle opportunity, while most will choose to lay up to their favourite wedge yardage.

Agenda
Per Se
A short, downhill par-3 where a large and deceptively undulating green awaits. For the best chance of a three, aim for the middle of the green as long or left leaves little hope of salvaging a par.

Nota Bene
The long 6th is a three shot hole for most, with out of bounds running the entire length of the hole down the right and a large undulating green.

Pro Forma
The 7th is a positional hole, with out of bounds to the right and deep penalising bunkers down the left side of a fairway, hitting the fairway is vital before an approach to a long thin green.

Ad Hoc
For the best view of the green, look to hug the right-hand side of the fairway with your drive from the elevated tee box. The second shot plays uphill to a two-tiered green protected by bunkers left and right.

Phobia
Hazards await on both sides to catch any errant drives on this thinking man’s par-5. A three shot hole for most, make sure to find the correct section on this tricky green with your approach.

The uphill, par-4 10th is a good chance to knock one close and get a shot back on the course. The challenge here is judging the elevation change to get your ball pin high.

Bona Fide
A strong par-3 with out of bounds lurking just yards from the right hand edge of the green and bunkers short, it’s recommended to club up to reach the heart of the green.

Play down the left side to open up the green and leave an exciting approach which plays a club less downhill over the water. Staying under the hole is essential as the green is pitched steeply from back to front.

Long hitters can look to carry all the bunkers on the right, while most should take a conservative line to the left. Pay attention with the lay up as bunkers are waiting both to the left and right.

Caveat
This demanding uphill par-3, requires a precise shot to find the green in regulation as anything hit offline will be punished, with several bunkers well positioned to catch the ball of those who don’t carry it far enough.

The 15th demands three well struck shots, with an intimidating view from the tee, the entire length of the hole plays uphill to a large green.

Hyper
The 16th, one of the most demanding par-4’s on the course, begins with a testing blind tee shot over the brow of a hill, with hazards both left and right. A steep tier splits the green into two distinct halves.

Although the shortest of the par-3’s, trouble still awaits with water left and deep bunkers guarding the entrance to this undulating, tiered green.

The spectacular 18th can make or break a great round. While long hitters will be tempted to have a go at the green in two, most golfers will opt to lay up short of the large lake that sits to the right of the green.
