LIV Golf League London

After the success of it's first year and inaugural event here at Centurion Club, LIV Golf returned for a second year between 6 - 9 July as part of the 14-tournament LIV Golf League.

Spectators packed the course to witness the world's top players grace our fairways and greens, including Bryson DeChambeau, Cameron Smith, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson, Sergio Garcia, Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter.

The tournament was so close to perfection for crowd-favourite Cam Smith, who nearly secured a team win to go alongside his memorable individual title here at Centurion Club. A missed putt on the 18th meaning his Ripper GC team finished as runners up to Dustin Johnson and his 4Aces team.

About the LIV Golf League

LIV Golf was founded in 2021 by former World no. 1 and World Golf Hall of Fame member, Greg Norman. As one of the best golfers in the world, he designed LIV Golf to refresh and supercharge the game of professional golf, with fans as the number one priority. With this vision in mind, the 2022 LIV Golf Invitational Series introduced its new and improved format to all four corners of the world. From world-class teams to smaller fields, fewer rounds and a season-ending Team Championship, LIV Golf modernized the game for both players and fans like you’ve never seen before.

LIV Golf London Debuted at Centurion Club in 2022

From 9 – 11 June 2022, Centurion Club played host to the LIV Golf Invitational Series inaugural event. It was a historic and memorable occasion for professional golf and our Club, with a field including some of the most recognisable names in the sport taking part in the innovative new event. The eyes of the world were on Centurion Club, as LIV Golf players Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Louis Oosthuizen and Phil Mickelson all graced the course for three days of thrilling golf and live entertainment.

With the aim of refreshing and adding a dynamic new element to the game of professional golf, the 2022 LIV Golf Invitational Series was founded by major champion, Hall of Fame member and former world number 1 golfer, Greg Norman, delivering an exciting new tournament format that features three rounds with 54 holes, shotgun starts, no cuts and 12 star-studded teams.

"This is an historic moment. The first LIV League tournament, and man, it’s awesome.” Charl Schwartzel, Individual Winner.

Charl Schwartzel fought off a late surge from Stingers GC teammate Hennie du Plessis to clinch the individual title with a score of 7 under par. The all-South African Stingers, captained by Louis Oosthuizen, were the first-ever team winners on the opening event of the LIV Golf Invitational Series.

LIV Golf Invitational 2022 Highlights

"(At Centurion Club) I think there's a good mix of holes, with old-school linksey type golf, and then inside the trees for the first few holes, it's definitely a good test out here, and it'll test every part of my game, I’m looking forward to getting out here this week and giving it a crack." — Cam Smith

"It’s a demanding course, so you’ve got to stay real focused and to carefully execute the shots.” Charl Schwartzel

"This course demands quality golf shots, especially off the tee. You’ve got to hit a lot of different clubs and you’ve got to hit the fairways, as they are quite narrow. I think it’s a good prep going into the U.S. Open, as you’re going to have to drive it well.” — Dustin Johnson

"I think it'll be a good test. I think those first four or five there in the trees are quite tough, and once you get through there, I think you're looking at birdies the whole way in." — Cam Smith

"It’s not an easy golf course. You have to drive the ball very, very well, It’s very tight…” Sergio Garcia
